Stone Type / Marble

Marble is a metamorphic rock created when limestone is heated to very temperatures under extreme pressure.

The veins and swirls which are characteristic of marbles are the result of impurities in the limestone such as sand, silt or metal oxides.

Whilst the metamorphic process ensures that marble is a very dense stone it is relatively soft compared to granite and as such is not as scratch, stain or corrosive resistant. Whilst still suitable for kitchen and bathroom areas it requires a higher level of care and maintenance, however the stunning colours and patterns available make this extra work more than worthwhile.

Marble has long been a popular building material owing to the wide range of colours and patterns available and its suitability for both indoor and outdoor use...for floors, walls, kitchen and bathroom benchtops. Each piece is different ensuring that each project is its own work of art. Whilst marble is most commonly polished to a high shine so as to accentuate the colours and patterns, it takes well to a number of finishes with tumbled marble pavers gaining popularity in recent times.

Available Dimensions:

The most common sizes for marble tiles and pavers are 300mm x 300mm and 600mm x 600mm with thickness varying according to size and the desired finish.

However any size and finish can be accomodated for upto 1000mmX1000mm for a really striking result.

Slabs for kitchen and bathroom benchtops can be cut to the shape and size to suit your project needs.
